Human remains found on the M4 motorway near Awkley. Major road closures and police investigation ongoing.
The remains were near Awkley, in south Gloucestershire. The man has not been identified yet, but his family has been notified now.
People called 999 around 6:40 PM on Saturday after seeing something on the road. Police arrived and found the remains on February 22nd. Cops are trying to figure out who the man was and how he got there.
The motorway was initially totally closed. The M4 closed between the bridge and Junction 20. The M48 was also closed between the M4 and Junction 1. Links from the M5 to M4 also shut.
Traffic trapped on the M4 and M48 slowly got released. The M4 eastbound reopened around 1:30 AM Sunday, and westbound closures ended about 3 AM.
