Police apprehended Damian Szczeluba in a park after he was seen waving a knife. He received a 43 week prison sentence.

The 36-year-old didn’t threaten anyone, he just walked and waved the knife. Someone walking in the park called the police and reported Szczeluba’s actions.
Szczeluba lived on Bridge Street, Peterborough. He had a three-inch lock knife when he was arrested and went to court in Huntingdon on February 22, Saturday. He received a 43-week prison sentence.
He already had a suspended sentence from December for prior crimes, including damaging property and assaulting an officer. He ripped a TV off a hotel wall and spat at a police officer.
PC Leo Clarke investigated the case. Szczeluba had a past weapon charge from 15 years ago, which stayed on his record. The court considered this during sentencing, noting the minimum sentence was six months.
PC Clarke thanked the CCTV operators and the person who called. Even though Szczeluba didn’t threaten anyone directly, it was a public place and his actions could scare people.
