Police are investigating an acid attack that happened in Greenbank on a young man. The police are working with the National Crime Agency. Two men forced entry into a Lipson Road house around 3:55 AM on Friday, February 21st. They seriously hurt a man in his twenties, and police call it a “targeted” acid attack.

Officers stayed at the scene for days while Crime Scene Investigators wore forensic suits, entering and leaving the property all weekend. The victim remains in serious condition at an undisclosed hospital. Acid caused the man’s injuries during the attack.

Devon and Cornwall Police shared new information, connecting the case to “organised crime.” They are working with the National Crime Agency, which does a role much like the FBI does in the USA.

Police are asking people to trust official information sources, as some social media shared untrue reports. Police no longer think suspects are in Wiltshire, and the suspects description was previously reported mistakenly.

Detective Superintendent John Bancroft spoke about the matter, saying it was a brutal attack and that the man is still in very serious condition. Specialist officers support his family at this time. Police believe this was an isolated, targeted attack linked to organised crime.

This is now a large-scale investigation effort, with police working closely with agencies like the NCA to locate any and all suspects. They are doing national and international inquiries too, committed to finding those responsible.

Police saw speculation online about suspects and the incident. The Superintendent noted that these allegations are untrue, and the facts are in their press release. Police urge people to use official sources to get factual details about this incident there.

Police want to thank those who came forward, as their inquiries led them further afield. They confirmed the suspects aren’t in Wiltshire and now want to speak to two black males, both said to be in their early twenties.

Anyone with information should contact the police. If you have CCTV or dashcam footage, contact police by calling 101 or visiting their website, using log 69 of February 21st. Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously for free at 0800 555 111.
