Armed police chased a van which led to 3 arrests after a burglary. A suspect hid behind bins in Basildon during the pursuit.

Police firearms officers were nearby in a plain car. They chased the van quickly, as the van sped away and drove recklessly, going the wrong way on roads and roundabouts.
Officers kept following the van closely. The van was left on a roundabout in Basildon. Three people fled from the van, but police quickly arrested all three men, with one even trying to hide behind a bin.
Essex Police shared footage of the chase. The van sped on Clay Hill Road in Basildon and went on Timberlog Lane, going 50mph in a 40 zone. The van even drove on the pavement, almost hitting a car while trying to escape.
The van drove the wrong way on a roundabout and also went on the wrong side of a dual-carriageway. After the van stopped, officers chased the men, and one yelled, “Armed police, stay where you are!”
A man wearing a black top and blue jeans stood up from behind wheelie bins. An officer pointed a Taser at him, then police handcuffed and arrested the man wearing a hat.
Chief Inspector Jennifer Bliss commented on the arrest, stating that her firearms officers do various jobs. They catch criminals and protect the public, patrolling in Essex and responding to reports.
Bliss explained these officers are well-trained and use tactics like Tasers to make arrests safely. They work quickly and carefully.
