Police in Aberdeen used specialist tactics, including a vehicle, to apprehend a man wielding a knife. A police dog was injured.

Officers and a dog handler went to the scene. Police used tactics, stating they wanted to protect everyone. They found a knife afterward. The car hit a man near a cemetery and Pittodrie Stadium.
The man rolled over the car’s hood. Police Dog Zeus got hurt. Zeus is a six-year-old Belgian Malinois. Vets treated him and he is now okay.
Paramedics took the man to the hospital for treatment. They charged him with several crimes, including one under the Animal and Welfare Act. The man is 27 years old.
They arrested and charged him for a disturbance that occurred on Seaforth Road. He will appear in court on Monday, March 3, 2025. Seaforth Road closed for an investigation but reopened Saturday, March 1st.
Superintendent Ross Kelly spoke about the event. He stated the public wasn’t facing ongoing risk and, thankfully, no officers were hurt. He focused on Zeus’s recovery, saying attacks on police dogs are unacceptable.
Kelly claims police dogs safeguard people, and their dog branch plays a critical role. Officers stayed in the area to reassure people, offering the opportunity to talk to officers or call 101. Police Scotland has been contacted for further comment.
