An unidentified man’s body was found in Claerwen Reservoir. Police seek information as the inquest begins into the unexplained death.

The man was in the Claerwen reservoir. It’s near Rhayader in Powys. Someone found him October 18. Experts think he was 30 to 60 years old, and he wore a black wetsuit.
Police investigate to learn his identity and to find his family. The death isn’t suspicious, officers say, and they ask for information to help identify him.
The coroner said an inquest is necessary because they don’t know the cause of death. The man also remains unnamed, and the inquest is open, but delayed. They want to identify him; if you know something, please tell them.
The police went to the reservoir after a call. Someone saw a body in the water October 18 around 8:30 AM. The body may have been there since summer. It’s the largest Elan Valley dam, and also the most isolated.
A detective inspector finds it odd nobody knows him. He wore a £200 Zone 3 wetsuit, size extra large. Police think he was 6ft-6ft 5in tall and weighed about 202-220lbs. His chest was 44-48 inches. The reservoir has few visitors, even in summer. Rhayader has walkers and cyclists and is a stop for drivers crossing Wales. It’s a half-hour drive from the reservoir.
The police checked missing person files and worked with law enforcement. Local and wider forensic inquiries occurred, but nobody has identified the man yet.
Police aren’t treating it criminally, still, they remain open minded. Did you visit the area between July and October 18? Have you spoken to the police? They want to hear from you, contact them. Do you recognize something mentioned? This might relate to a missing person, so please come forward.
