Free clubs return during school holidays, offering meals and activities for Plymouth children aged 5-16. HAF funded.

The council secured funding for 2025 from the government’s HAF program. ‘Fit and Fed’ runs during school holidays, including Easter, summer, and Christmas breaks.
HAF helps families needing support, specifically targeting kids getting free school meals. These children can be active for free, trying new activities while enjoying healthy food.
In 2024, over 30,000 places were available for kids aged 5-16 to enjoy the clubs, participating in activities like football, dance, and water sports. Teens also had access to 1,000 ‘Taster’ sessions.
Teen activities included trampolining, bowling, go-karting, and adventure golf. Christmas brought new family fun, with parents and kids enjoying 700 sessions that included ice skating, swimming, and visits to the National Marine Aquarium.
Each summer, ‘Fit and Fed’ tours the city’s parks, offering free fun days for everyone. Last year, they gave out 2,750 lunches, and local groups offered helpful advice on topics including safety, hygiene, and living costs.
The council views ‘Fit and Fed’ as a vital program and is happy to receive continued funding. It supports families during breaks, providing kids with lunch, fun, and opportunities to make friends, making a positive difference.
One parent expressed extreme gratitude, noting the club boosted their child’s confidence. A leader at Plymouth Active Leisure welcomed the news, emphasizing that the funding makes a real difference for many families facing cost of living issues by offering safe and fun activities.
