Blackpool Pleasure Beach gets approval for 18 self-contained holiday apartments on Ocean Boulevard, part of The Boulevard Hotel.

These units will be part of the Boulevard Hotel, allowing guests to use all hotel amenities including convenient parking. They applied in June 2023 for this conversion. The units at 16-32 Ocean Boulevard used to be shops and have been empty for a while now.
Planners approved the project, stating this investment helps the resort and provides diverse holiday accommodation choices. Blackpool has seen more self-contained lodging recently. These enhancements to tourism improve visitor experience overall when managed well.
The units will match the Boulevard Hotel’s style. That hotel opened in 2019, costing £12 million, and features 120 comfortable bedrooms. The update will improve the street’s appearance too. Bringing life back to these units helps create a lively frontage for guests.
The existing terraced units look visually separate, partially because of projecting elements. Differences in color enhance this effect on the frontage. The plans seek to unify these units more. They plan varying materials for visual interest and distinction across all units.
Modern frontages and matching materials are acceptable and tie in with the Boulevard Hotel’s design. The Pleasure Beach wants more high-quality rooms nearby. They said this when they submitted the application, noting that they also run the Big Blue Hotel nearby.
Ocean Boulevard first opened in 1990, but documents reveal problems emerged by the 2000s. Part of it closed down during that time. Closing the park’s south entrance worsened the problem.
