A petition to halt rewilding in Park Hall, Walsall, citing safety and amenity concerns, will be debated at a council meeting.

Last summer, Walsall cut green spaces way less. They saved £50,000 doing this, which equals about 50 football fields’ worth of space. Newquay Park and Wood End Park got rewilded.
A person from Park Hall, named Kay Davies, started the petition. She said kids had no place to play last summer break and that the areas became unsafe and gross.
Long grass attracted nasty pests like rats and fleas. The council wanted to rewild even more in 2025, hoping to save another £50,000. Public pushback stopped that plan for now.
The petition wants them to stop “wilding” Park Hall’s spaces. People feel the spaces are unsafe now, that it is hard for kids to play, and that dog walking got difficult too.
The petition mentions these areas used for 58 years. Long grass poses a health risk from pests, and now kids play in the street because it is safer. People worry about the locals’ health.
The petition got over 500 signatures. So, it goes to a council meeting next week and they will discuss it on Monday, February 24th, at 6 PM.
