Aaron Lewis died at age 26. He was shot on Grosvenor Road in Wavertree after visiting Anna Jung’s chip shop.

His dad, Alfie, said it gets harder each year as Aaron died outside that chip shop. Alfie, who worked nearby at a karate club, had even planned to get food there that night.

He and his wife Donna drove to the scene and saw their son mortally wounded. People were taking photos around Aaron as Donna knelt beside him, begging him to stay.

A bullet pierced his heart, yet doctors couldn’t save him. Aaron, a bricklayer and kickboxing champion, was rushed to Aintree Hospital after being hit by up to eight bullets.

His brother-in-law was also shot in the moments before Aaron, but he survived his injuries. The shooting occurred on February 1, 2017.

It has been eight years, and no one is accountable. Police made six arrests then, but no one was ever charged for the crime.

Aaron left behind his family, including three kids, now between eight and seventeen. Alfie said 50 people gather at the shop every anniversary, a tradition to remember Aaron.

Alfie talks about Aaron to keep his memory alive and raise awareness in the community, hoping someone will come forward since loyalties change, and new information may arise.

A 9mm handgun and .44 calibre revolver were used, and police recovered both weapons later. The shooter fled in a white Renault van that was later found burned near Brookdale and Ferndale Roads.

Two other people may have been in the van, which contained the handgun. Police actively investigate organized crime, and the case is under review by a special unit.

Kevin Clague leads the Serious Crime Review Unit, stating that they always investigate new leads. He also noted that communities often hold key information for them.

Aaron was young, and his death devastated his family. Any information might help bring them justice.
