New plans propose padel and pickleball courts in Peterborough after initial refusal due to planning order limitations.

The council turned down these initial plans on February 6. The council said it exceeded limitations found in the Town and Country Planning Order 2015.
The council also claimed it needed permission for hard surfacing. The development allegedly lacked rights for this, requiring planning permission. Mr. Jordan has since applied again, this time fully seeking planning permission.
He states the site is currently unused, dilapidated, and lacks potential. It needs a new surface, and upgrades are necessary for playable surfaces. Mr. Jordan hopes for conversions to five padel courts and three pickleball courts with appropriate fencing.
Padel courts will have a simple metal frame. Polycarbonate sheets will form the court walls, and mesh sections will prevent high balls from escaping.
The existing clubhouse supplies facilities, including toilets. Players should arrive ready to play; therefore, changing rooms are unnecessary.
Mr. Jordan commented on sport benefits after the refusal. He thinks padel has a good influence and states pickleball can also help the community. He believes it benefits the city population.
He states he is fully committed, wanting to provide these “Fit for Life” sports.
