19th century stables near a Wansford nature reserve may be converted into three new single story homes.

The Church Commissioners applied for permission. They manage the Church of England’s properties. The stable is on St Johns Farmyard. It’s near Wansford, off Kings Cliffe Road. It has existed there since 1885.
The nature reserve is quite large at 520 acres. This reserve has been wooded since Roman times. St Johns Farmyard is linked to the Duke of Bedford’s estate.
Estate cottages are nearby, to the west. They share a private road. The plan involves three single-story homes.
One house has four bedrooms. Another house has three bedrooms. The last house also has four bedrooms. Each house comes with two parking spots.
They also get one covered bike space. A conservation officer supports the stable’s conversion. The building’s character must be kept, though.
Savills wrote the planning statement. They state the stable’s shape and size are retained. Existing openings will stay where possible. New timber windows are proposed.
These replace worn windows. Modern brickwork will be removed. Poor PVC windows will be replaced. This change will improve the building’s look. It aims to restore its historical condition.
Peterborough City Council will decide on the application later.
