Hey, guess what’s happening in Liverpool? They’re tearing down the old Royal University Hospital. You know, the brutalist towers where many people stayed during those hospital visits. Big chunks are already gone.

Demolition started last year; that’s 2023. Remember the new Royal Liverpool Hospital? It finally opened in 2022. This Birmingham company, DSM Demolition, is doing the work. They should finish in 2026.

The hospital wants more healthcare buildings there. Places for training, research, and new ideas are planned. This will help patients, staff, and the city. They will partner with other organizations. Last October, the hospital and university made a deal.

The goal? Build an Academic Health Sciences Campus there. It’s going on the old hospital’s land. Very cool! Remember that dust cloud video from last April? A tower just fell suddenly.

It shook some people up. The hospital said it was planned. Just part of the demolition.
The Echo’s got some recent pictures of the demolition. They show how quickly it’s becoming rubble. It was a well known building in Liverpool. Now, it’s disappearing.
