Notts TV will cease broadcasting this November after a decade due to its license not being renewed by Nottingham Trent University.

News of the closure came out today. All Notts TV staff know about it. The channel began in 2014 and recently celebrated ten years with Vicky McClure.
Ofcom granted the channel a license in 2014, also licensing thirty other local channels. Ofcom offered extensions last year, the first extension lasting until late 2026. After that, channels could renew until 2034.
The deadline to renew is next March, but there will be no renewal for Notts TV. The channel’s license ends this November, and Notts TV will then close down for good. About nine people work there. You can watch it on Freeview and Virgin.
It also covers Splendour Festival and runs the BBC’s local news project. Popular shows include Notts Today and Team Talk. Mark Dennison presents regularly on there.
Mike Sassi and Angela Brown are channel directors. Brown also works at NTU. The channel lost over £13,000 recently, and losses increased since last year.
Notts TV owes over £1.7 million, including £765,000 to NTU. The university also has financial problems, as their income stayed flat in 2024. NTU has been asked to comment on the situation.
