A man faces charges after police found a cannabis farm with nearly 500 plants in a Sherwood home.

Police say they discovered 493 cannabis plants. The plants grew in six different areas. Officers went inside the house by force. Electricity had been bypassed to run the farm, and a suspect was also at the place.
Officers took the drugs and equipment used for the farm. They seized or destroyed everything. Albert Hatjia, 28, faces charges. He is charged with making cannabis. He is also charged with stealing electricity. Hatia’s address is on Staunton Drive.
Hatia went to court on February 5 in Nottingham. The court held him in jail. He will appear in court again on March 5. The next court date is at Nottingham Crown Court.
PC Martyn Barber spoke about the case. Police gathered information about drug activity. They thought the house was part of drug dealing. Police seized many cannabis plants. This shows they take action based on information.
Drugs are not wanted in the community. These grows create fire hazards. The buildings and neighbors face risk. Police will find and stop these practices. They plan to bring suspects to court.
