Hey, guess what I just read? Nottingham’s main library needs repairs. They’re spending £17,000 to fix it. This happened less than a year after it opened. The library cost £10.5 million. It replaced the Angel Row library in 2023.

They found damage on August 16, 2024. A second-floor window had problems. Specialists went there the next day. They removed the broken inner window layer. New glass is going in now.

The £17,096 covers everything, including labor and permits. Permits cover traffic and pedestrian control. The library was closed Monday, but reopened Tuesday. Traffic is restricted on Carrington Street.

The work area is blocked off. You can still reach Collin, Canal, and Lister Gate, so this doesn’t stop access to them. The council apologized for closing the library. The restrictions keep things safe.

The library had over 20,000 visits the first month. It connects to the Broad Marsh Car Park. The bus station is also part of that building.
