Faulty fire doors at Bulwell Hall Community Center added to Nottingham Council repair list amid funding concerns.

The council owns Bulwell Hall. Trustees want faster repairs, and volunteers felt bad about a court summons regarding business rates.
Katrina Howitt manages the center and says fire doors don’t close right. She reported it to the council, and it’s on a list. Shutters in the hall also fail and should come down in a fire. These were also added to the list.
The center opened in 2005, and it costs much money to maintain. The center gets no support, she added. The council subsidizes centers by £600,000 yearly, which covers staffing, repairs, and upkeep.
The council faces budget problems soon. They want to end the subsidy by 2025 and plan new leases with the centers. Rents and responsibilities will increase too, as rents will now only cover running costs.
The council will send someone to check the fire doors soon. After the report, they will take safety steps. A council spokesperson confirmed this plan.
