Families of Nottingham attack victims criticize Leicestershire Police. They cite poor treatment before meeting PM, push for public inquiry.

Barnaby, Grace, and Ian’s families will meet Keir Starmer today. Mrs. Webber wants a full public inquiry because she thinks the 2023 attacks could have been prevented.
Mrs. Webber spoke to PA news, stating the families know the meeting is important. They want a transparent public inquiry confirmed, and this inquiry needs real power.
Mrs. Webber said the families faced awful treatment from police and other groups. This included the CPS and a mental health trust, starting after the June 2023 tragedy.
The families want truth and claim agencies failed to protect. They uncovered failures through determination, she said, and they have “nothing to hide.”
Downing Street said Starmer wants a judge-led inquiry and might also support a full public inquiry with legal power.
The IOPC will soon release findings involving Leicestershire Police and Valdo Calocane. Allegations state police handled Calocane’s assaults before the attacks in Kegworth.
Calocane murdered Barnaby, Grace, and Ian in June 2023. He admitted manslaughter due to diminished responsibility, and the court sentenced him to a hospital order in January.
Mrs. Webber stated current investigations aren’t good enough. She sees errors and omissions in them and believes they don’t work properly.
