Wor Local Micropub in Prudhoe announces sudden closure due to rising rent and costs after nearly ten years of service.

This pub has been around for almost ten years. Locals and visitors alike loved it there. They featured good ale and showed sports. Quiz nights were always a hit, too, and everyone online raved about the staff. The atmosphere was always so welcoming.
The pub posted the sad news on their Facebook page, citing rent and costs that had gone up too much. They said they couldn’t afford to stay open anymore.
Their rent could increase by over 42%, which included a new door and window, with a six-year lease. They could fix the door and window themselves; however, that option still increased rent by about 21%.
The pub struggled to stay warm and also lost parking, hurting business significantly. They didn’t want to raise prices due to competition but thanked everyone for the support. The owners said they will miss Wor Local, as well.
One regular said it’s a big loss for Prudhoe. Strangers became friends at the pub, and families felt welcome there instantly. It helped people during Covid, too, and some will be devastated by its closure.
Another person said they’re sorry to hear the news. This great pub fostered community and many good times happened there. They wished the owners best of luck, as people will miss it terribly.
Wor Local Micropub also shared their plans for closing day and advised they will show Newcastle’s FA Cup game against Brighton on Sunday.
