Author Charlie Bennett releases ‘Climbing Stiles’, his follow-up book to ‘Down the Rabbit Hole’, sharing farm life stories.

A farmer in Northumberland became an author. He released a second book of stories; His first book did well.
Charlie Bennett wrote during the lockdowns. It was called Down the Rabbit Hole. His new book, Climbing Stiles, came out after the first one in 2022.
Both books tell farm life stories. His farm is Middleton North Farm, sitting by the Wansbeck River. People find his style charming and thoughtful; The second book focuses on people.
Charlie cares about sustainable farms and wants wildlife to thrive. He calls it common-sense farming; His stories began as simple records.
Charlie hopes people enjoy his tales. He hopes they think about nature and consider our place in it.
Charlie farms livestock traditionally and creates habitats for animals. This increases plant and animal variety; Nature faces global decline he notes.
He’s building a viable business that supports both wildlife and livestock. Challenges exist daily, but it is working well, and it feels very rewarding.
Pastures, wetlands, and meadows thrive, as do animals, wildflowers, and fungi. He wants to help threatened species find lost habitats and prosper.
Charlie works with many groups to try to save native species, including white-clawed crayfish. The river has a protected site; Sadly, some crayfish died last year.
Charlie welcomes visitors to his farm. School groups come to learn about his programs. Curlicue publishes Climbing Stiles, which is available in bookstores and on Charlie’s website.
