New Unity Centre construction begins in Northstowe, offering space for events, meetings, and community.

The council and developers are paying for it. The council gave £6.5 million. The developers gave £2.2 million. Other funds came from a UK pot.
The Unity Centre will host many events. Residents can meet there, and it will be a big, useful space. The main hall will host several events. It can hold formal and informal events, such as plays, classes, and meetings.
The foyer will be a café. There will be kitchens for the hall. The building also will have offices where staff, the town council, and booking will be located.
Meeting rooms will be flexible, able to hold groups and services. A shared workspace is planned. They will also have a small library. A crafts area will connect to a garden where kids can do art safely.
Toilets are planned, including an accessible one with features like a bed and hoist. The building will use less energy with good insulation, solar panels to make power, and heat pumps.
The building will have green roofs. Hedges and trees with homes for animals are planned, as well as space for seventy bikes.
Natalie Warren-Green spoke about it, noting the extent to which the old center showed what locals need. She looks forward to seeing the new building. Mark Dady also spoke about the center, stating that he’s happy to start the building.
His team already worked on the school. They are glad to build more in town.
