A large solar farm may be built near the A1(M) in North Yorkshire, generating 39.3MW of power over 80 hectares.

They will use frames to hold the solar panels up. Three substations are also planned for the site, supported by nine medium voltage power stations. Over 100 CCTV cameras will be placed on poles, alongside underground cables and roads. A 2.4-meter fence will surround it.
The solar farm is planned for 40 years. Then, it goes back to farmland. They claim the soil will be better then.
The plans went to North Yorkshire Council to review. The solar farm will have rows of panels, and support equipment will also be on site. They designed the layout to be efficient, avoiding site issues when possible. They plan to keep existing plants in place and maintain distances from homes. The panels are anti-glare, which reduces light reflection.
The solar farm will use low-quality farm land. The developers talked to the local people. They wanted community feedback on the solar farm. They reviewed many responses to the plan and changed it where they could.
North Yorkshire Council has not commented yet though. Brompton Solar belongs to Harmony Energy. Harmony Energy planned a solar farm at Skeeby that was 55MW. Then, they sold it to a green company for £38m. The new solar farm will be close to Skeeby’s farm.
