A Ruabon mini-market must close due to illegal cigarette and vape sales following a court order.

Trading standards officers applied to the court, detailing illegal cigarette and vape sales. These sales and seizures happened recently. The store is now closed and locked, and it stays closed until April 29, 2025.
Councilor Hugh Jones spoke about illegal vapes, noting the growing use of vapes by kids. New UK and Welsh laws are coming this year. These laws aim to control illegal vapes and tobacco, supporting a smoke-free Wales by 2030.
Selling illegal products harms the community, Jones added. The council will use its legal powers to protect youth. Easy access to cheap cigarettes hooks children, and it makes quitting harder for adult smokers too.
Cheap vapes also threaten kids’ health. Discarded vapes cause environmental problems. These used vapes have caused many waste fires.
Jones welcomes closing the store for so long. This hurts the business owner directly, and it also affects the property owner. They cannot use or rent the space for three months.
Landlords with tenants breaking the law should beware. Similar actions could happen to them. The Court may order a loss of property use.
