Hey, guess what? North Wales had a small earthquake! It’s their first one this year. It happened near Ridleywood in Wrexham. The date was Saturday, February 22.

The British Geological Survey shared details. They said it measured magnitude 1.6 and occurred about 7 kilometers underground. This quake struck really early, around 2:46 am. No one reported feeling it, though!

Another earthquake happened earlier, on January 13, in the Irish Sea near Aberdaron. That earthquake had a magnitude of 1.3. It was about 20 kilometers offshore.

Last Christmas, they had another earthquake too which struck near Corris in Gwynedd on Boxing Day. The British Geological Survey reported this Christmas quake was 4 kilometers deep. It had a magnitude of 1.0 and happened at 3:33 pm. The BGS didn’t say if anyone felt anything.

Before that, three earthquakes struck in September 2024. The first occurred on September 2 in Llangaffo, Anglesey, according to the BGS. That quake was 1.3 kilometers deep. Its magnitude was roughly 1.3.

A family near Niwbwrdh felt it slightly and heard a faint rumbling. The second September quake was on September 7 near Pant Plas in Gwynedd. It measured around 1.3 and was 15 kilometers deep. They didn’t say if anyone felt that one.

Back in 2023, one hit Carmel, Gwynedd, on December 20. That one was 19 kilometers deep and had a magnitude of 1.8. People felt it two miles away.

Then, a bigger quake hit Eryri last year. A person said it sounded like strong wind. This happened February 8 near Foel Grach. It was two kilometers underground.

One more quake occurred on March 3 last year. Llangwm in Conwy was the epicenter. It measured .9 at 12 kilometers deep. An Irish Sea quake was felt in Llangefni last July. It had a magnitude of 2 and struck at 3:26 pm, 12 km deep.
