Police issue a new statement after searching a house in North Shields related to a 2002 missing person case.

Scott vanished from North Shields. He had moved from Scotland ten months prior. The police searched a home on Coronation Street. This search relates to his disappearance. Forensic officers were there a lot.
They removed many items and rubble. Detective Inspector Atherton thanked the locals. He appreciated their patience during the search. Atherton asks for more help from the public. Anyone with information should contact the police.
Scott was from Stranraer, Scotland. He worked and lived in Prudhoe Terrace. His family in Scotland reported him missing. Initially, police treated it as a missing person case. Weeks later, they started a murder investigation.
This was despite finding no body. In 2008, divers searched the River Tyne. A witness saw a man like Scott near the river. This happened early on October 11, 2002. They found nothing in the river then.
Police told Scott’s family he likely entered the river. The family didn’t want a death certificate. Last summer, police arrested a man. He was a suspect in Scott’s murder. The house search started on February 17th.
A tent stood outside the Coronation Street home. The current resident moved out temporarily. They did not live there in 2002. Last Saturday, police arrested three people. Two men and one woman were arrested.
They were questioned on suspicion of murder. All three got released on bail later. The man arrested last year was arrested again. The house remains empty now currently.
Black coverings hide the inside from view. A skip behind it overflows with debris. Police created a webpage for information sharing. If you know something, contact the police online.
