The Mallow Park Hotel (Central Hotel) in North Cork, faces demolition after being derelict for nearly two decades.

The hotel is on Thomas Davis Street. It’s been closed for almost twenty years and looks rough. The building dates back to around 1820. It actually suffered fire damage a while back. It closed in 2007.
They issued the owners a demolition notice, as it falls under the Derelict Sites Act of 1990. Basically, they need to tear the whole thing down. The building used to be protected.
It was delisted back in 2021. Then, in 2023, they issued a derelict site order. A local rep wants a new project planned for the site quickly. This could really improve the area.
The rep talked to the hotel owners, who will announce a schedule for the demolition work. It sounds like the Council is pressing them hard. They want progress soon.
Another local councillor mentioned the demolition notice, which follows a site inspection. He will push for rebuilding a useful building. He wants this done as soon as possible.
