Coventry residents distressed by loud, train-like noise from manhole covers on St James Lane, causing sleep disruption.

Severn Trent handles the manhole covers. They say the issue is fixed, but locals have complained since last year. A dad named Dan says it bothers his daughter; the noise wakes her up at night.
Dan said the problem started a while ago. It stopped briefly, but then returned. He says buses make a loud boom every fifteen minutes at night, and even neighbors down the street hear it.
Dan contacted Severn Trent. They told him the work was done already. He asked them to come see for themselves, but he hasn’t heard back from them.
Christine Moxon, another resident, is also disturbed. She says the noise disrupts her sleep and has been bad for about six months. She hears it when traffic passes at night, and also early in the morning.
Christine said she’s not had an update. She thinks the cover isn’t level, and it sounds like crashing every time a car goes over it. Anyone nearby can hear the loud noise, which she says has been bad for months.
Another resident wants to remain unnamed. He said the noise is constant and interrupts his sleep. He is thinking of moving because of it, as most drivers cannot avoid driving over it.
Severn Trent is aware of the noisy cover. They inspected it to find out how to repair it and will manage traffic for safety during repairs. They got a permit for the work on February 18th.
Severn Trent apologizes for the disturbance. They know it can be disruptive. Coventry City Council knows about the issue too, and they are talking with Severn Trent about it.
