A woman was arrested after a dog attack in Newport. The attack severely injured another dog. Giles Lewis owned Yuki. Yuki is a six-year-old mix; she is half Pomeranian, half Japanese Spitz.

The attack happened on Risca Road, close to Lewis’s home. The date was February 6th around 7:10 p.m. Lewis walked Yuki nearby when another dog, a lurcher, attacked and shook Yuki violently.

Police confirmed the arrest of the 47-year-old woman from Newport after an appeal regarding the February 6th attack. Yuki was hospitalized because of her injuries.

Police also seized the dog they believe did the attacking, and the woman was in charge of the dog. Gwent Police shared news on Facebook, looking for two people about the Risca Road incident. Police have now identified the woman involved.

She was arrested for a dog being dangerously out of control and is being held in custody. Police thanked people for sharing their appeal. Yuki received treatment at a Langford hospital where they checked her wounds and stabilized her.

Yuki received methadone for the pain and needed feeding through a tube.
