Mayor Barry Panter passed away following a car crash. Community remembers his dedication to public service.

Community leaders spoke of Councillor Panter. He dedicated his life to public service. He served in the RAF and police. Later, he became a councillor.
Alan White expressed his shock. He sends thoughts to Panter’s family. Panter served in the RAF and then was a police officer for 23 years. He served his community as a councillor. People will miss him greatly.
Phil Hewitt met the mayor often. He saw his pride in the community. Residents will be shocked and send sympathy to his family.
Barry was born in Bedford. He joined the RAF at age 19. He served in South Wales Constabulary for 23 years and received awards for courage. He moved to North Staffordshire in 2002.
Panter joined the residents’ association. He was a parish councillor and governor. He joined Newcastle-under-Lyme Council in 2016, representing the Loggerheads ward.
Simon Tagg said friends are shocked. They saw him chair a meeting. The council sends thoughts to his wife and family.
Panter drove a grey Suzuki Splash. It hit a tractor on February 13th. The crash happened near Woore at 6:40 pm. He died later in the hospital.
