Prolific thief Christopher Smith stole £300 of goods from a Sainsbury’s, filling a bag so full he struggled to carry it.

Smith was already waiting for his sentence. That sentence was for robbing a hotel. Then, he stole from a Sainsbury’s store, taking about £300 worth of stuff. These items included cheese, meat, and butter.
He filled a big bag with groceries. Store staff saw him doing this and asked him to give the items back. He refused and kept filling the bag, which became too heavy to carry easily. Police recognized Smith from the store’s video.
Smith admitted he stole from the shop at the courthouse. The prosecutor said Smith entered the store on Heaton Road this year in February.
He had a laundry-style bag and filled it with items. A staff member asked him to return them, but he continued filling the bag anyway. It was so heavy that he struggled.
Smith’s record shows many thefts. He has 152 theft offenses on his record. He was out on bail for hotel theft. The court delayed his sentence to handle both crimes together. Smith will return to court in March.
