Police in Newcastle seized £20,000 worth of illegal vapes and tobacco from a shop on Shields Road, arresting one man.

The Byker police team found the items on Wednesday. They were there for something else entirely. They saw cigarettes, tobacco, and vapes. Now, officers have taken those items away. During the visit, they arrested one man. They suspected him of committing immigration offenses. He is now in custody.
The police seized quite a lot of stuff, getting 1,765 cigarettes and 1,765 tobacco pouches. Also, they found 417 illegal vapes that day. The total value of it all is twenty grand.
The police are visiting more shops. They think some are selling illegal goods. They want to stop those shops completely, which is good. They work with Trading Standards to do this. These illegal items can cause a lot of problems. Their sale connects to bigger crimes usually.
Smoking is dangerous, as you know. Illegal vapes and tobacco hurt our community. Too many people die from smoking around here. Police are preventing health issues now. The city council is serious about this issue.
They want to stop all illegal activity in town. Trading Standards works with the police too. Tell them if you know something, okay? If you know something, tell the police. The police will act on your info.
