Police update the search for Zakaria Chowdhury, 20, missing since Feb 7th from Newcastle. Search concentrates on Tyne River.

Zakaria was last seen on February 7. It was around 2 AM in the city center. CCTV showed him at the Centre for Life earlier. He then went to the High Level Bridge.
Police searched for Zakaria since the report. Sadly, they have not found him yet. His mother, Shimul Hossain, made a public appeal. She wants him to know he’s loved.
Detective Chief Inspector Kevin Ashurst spoke. He leads Northumbria Police’s Missing From Home Team. He says they are supporting Zak’s family and asks people respect their privacy.
Ashurst noted their search for Zak remains active. Their belief is that he entered the water near the High Level Bridge, shortly after he was last seen.
They are doing regular water searches. River flow and poor visibility make it difficult. Ashurst thanked emergency services for their help in the search effort.
