A mother was threatened with scissors after confronting a woman who bumped into her toddler in Newcastle city centre.

The woman’s young kids were with her. They were walking towards the Eldon Square bus station when Azadeh Mohammadi bumped into her child. The daughter fell and started to cry.
The mom felt angry and very upset, so she went after Mohammadi, wanting an apology. The mom also called her a “stupid cow”.
Mohammadi then showed nail scissors and told the mom to get away from her. Mohammadi yelled “I’ll stab you!” repeatedly, moving toward them in a scary way.
The mom feared for everyone’s safety, feeling someone could get hurt or killed as Mohammadi kept moving closer. The mom’s son hid behind her, screaming. She ran and got security staff.
Police found Mohammadi in a restroom. She still held the scissors that time. Mohammadi said the mom threatened her first and that she had the scissors for her hair. She also claimed she lived in hotels.
The mom said the event shook them badly. She couldn’t believe what happened and felt scared for her and her kids. Thinking about it made her cry a lot, and her five-year-old became traumatized, too.
Mohammadi said she did not threaten violence. She wanted the mom to leave her alone because she felt very stressed at that moment. The mom’s words made her nervous.
The judge knew she visited the UK only, carrying all her things in a handbag. He noted she was going between hotels and knew the bag hit the child, accepting it was an accident.
The court had convicted her earlier for having scissors and for public disorder. They sentenced Mohammadi to four months, a sentence suspended for six months.
