A Newcastle driver was banned after a road rage incident where he clipped a woman’s car and threatened her.

David Miller bumped the woman’s car on Byker Bridge in Newcastle. He didn’t exchange info calmly; instead, he yelled bad words and drove off. The court learned he called her names and threatened her neck. Miller is 46 years old.
Police found Miller at his home on Alnwick Street in Newburn. He went to court, facing charges of careless driving, public order, and leaving the scene. He initially said he was innocent, but after a trial, he was found guilty.
Miller returned to court for his sentence where he was banned from driving. The prosecutor, Holly Clegg, said the woman drove on November 30, 2022, when Miller tried to change lanes and hit her mirror.
Clegg said Miller was verbally abusive, using awful language and threatening to snap her neck before leaving. She reported it to the police, and Miller denied the charges, leading to a trial. The woman said it upset her and that his behavior was threatening.
The court learned Miller had past offenses, but he had stayed out of trouble since 2013. Jordan Parkinson defended Miller, who still denies hitting her car and claims she was at fault. He also denied using bad language. Parkinson said Miller has a rare condition and pins in his leg because of a break.
He previously had 12 license points for speeding and avoided a ban before, arguing it caused “hardship” then because he cared for his wife and appointments. Parkinson argued hardship again, but magistrates disagreed this time.
Miller got a £300 fine and must pay £650 in costs, plus £150 to the woman. He also got six driving penalty points, which triggered a six-month driving ban.
