A Newcastle dad was jailed after dealing cocaine from his home, where he lived with his partner and four children.

Evans admitted guilt in court last January to charges including hiding money and drug possession. During his arrest, Evans told police he needed extra money, saying times were hard for him.
An investigation uncovered odd income totaling over £69,000 between 2020 and 2022. This money was spent on luxury items like a £1,000 gold chain, as well as fast food and content from Nintendo and PlayStation.
His lawyer stated that Evans lost work during Covid and began using drugs out of desperation. He needed cash to pay a loan shark debt, and was then encouraged to deal by other drug users. Evans sold cocaine in small amounts.
Customers called him and picked up drugs at his house. The court heard that he knew what he was doing and expected to make money. The judge noted his actions were very serious, as he sold drugs from home with children.
The judge considered his young age, a prior conviction irrelevant to this case, and hearing delays. She also noted that he addressed his drug problem, only sold drugs he used himself, had a good work history, and cared for his son.
Evans received three years and four months, serving half in prison and then being released on license. If he re-offends, he could go back to prison.
