Two arrested after Ali Khan and Siddiq Shah were assaulted on Bigg Market in Newcastle early Sunday.

Ali and Siddiq are flatmates from Pakistan who have lived in Newcastle for years. Ali, age 26, said the incident happened outside Cosy Joes after they had just left with another friend.
Ali, a security manager, had bruises and a bloody nose. Siddiq, a 22-year-old student, hurt his eye. Both men went to the Royal Victoria Infirmary for treatment.
Police arrested two men for the assault, questioned them, and then released them on bail. Police are asking witnesses to come forward.
Northumbria Police said they got a report about a disturbance on Bigg Market around 3 AM Sunday. The report stated that an altercation broke out between people, resulting in facial injuries for two men.
