Surrey’s Heathervale Recreation Ground will feature a new skatepark with ramps and a bowl, approved by Runnymede council.

The new skatepark will be concrete and a bit bigger. It sits in Heathervale Recreation Ground and will have ramps and bowl features. The location is toward the canal.
The Runnymede council approved the new skatepark after they voted on Wednesday, February 26. The goal is to create a better space for older kids who are often too old for playgrounds.
A council member said adults will use it, too, noting that people aged 30 to 40 emailed him. Skating is for all ages, he said, including people over 40.
A council member also thanked officers for their work, stating that the park was “long awaited.” He had been asking about the park for years.
People initially worried about noise affecting neighbors, even though the park has other amenities like tennis courts. A report showed the skatepark wouldn’t increase noise because some homes sit over 80 meters away. Officials warned that they might still hear complaints, saying, “Never say never.”
Three people objected to the new skatepark at first, worrying about graffiti and bad behavior. However, officers said the park wouldn’t cause problems.
