Two friends are opening a new spot in the Northern Quarter. It’s called renae and it’s on Thomas Street. They want to make a real community space. Music is the main focus there.

Harris Mouridis teams up with Brad Parkins. They have experience at Trof and other places. They’re using their skills to build this venue. Renae plans to open next month in March. Patrick Ryder will have a record shop inside.

He is from Talking Drums and Piccadilly Records. Also, there’s a pop-up book shop from 20k. They’ll sell zines and books from small publishers.

Renae will have a cozy bar vibe. They will have craft beers and natural wines. Cocktails are available at fair prices there. The bar flows easily from day to night.

The underground area features cool music gear. There’s a special DJ booth. It has Manchester’s only L-Acoustics sound system too. Soundhaus designed and crafted the sound system there.

Later, an event space will open on the first floor. They plan to have workshops and club nights. Yoga classes and exhibitions are set to happen. The second floor has a co-working space.

Helena Harrison of Beam Interiors is designing the space. She uses warm and inviting interiors. It’s inspired by Japanese mid-century design. The design includes rugs and unique furniture. There is also a “striking” wall of acoustic diffusers.

Harris and Brad share their goals for renae. It is about connection, culture, and community. They built it from friendship and love of music. It’s about dancing and enjoying music shared.

Renae will be open seven days a week. Hours are from midday until late. The shop is open during the day, till 4pm. The opening date is Friday, March 28.
