Alex Giblin takes over Charlie Bassetts, known for its campsite and famous visitors, with positive changes.
The pub sits on a large piece of land. Campers can stay overnight there. Kev Ball owns the camping area. You can book it on the Pitch Up website. Coleen Nolan and Phil Taylor visit sometimes.
The pub is a traditional country inn, and they serve food there. They just added vegan and vegetarian options, which include burgers, pies, and more. Food is served 5 PM to 9 PM, except Sundays; Sunday lunch is 12 PM to 5 PM. They hope to add a lunch menu soon.
Alex worked at other pubs before this one. He says the first three weeks went well and that he kept the same staff. The food service is back up.
They switched some drinks. They now offer Madri and Staropramen instead. You can get three cider flavors from one tap. They are adding a tonic tap soon, which will have six flavors.
They will keep doing outdoor events. Expect music festivals this summer. Rum n Reggae and Country events are planned. The campsite stays open all year. Staff can show you to a spot.
They are getting a smoker for outside. They already have a BBQ and pizza oven. More toilets and outdoor bars are coming. They want people to visit all year.
They have bingo on Mondays after March. Tuesdays feature a quiz night. Wednesdays offer game nights. Fridays mean acoustic music. Saturdays have live music or karaoke. Coleen Nolan lives close by and visits sometimes.
Charlie Bassetts is open daily. Their hours are noon to midnight.
