Hey, guess what I just read? They are building houses. It’s happening at the old Throstle Farm school site. The school is in Knottingley on Hazel Road. It closed down a while back, in 2011.

Wakefield Council said yes to the new homes. They plan to build 151 houses there. Miller Homes and Kingswater Homes are building. They will build one to four-bedroom houses.

The houses will suit various people’s needs. Singles, couples, and families can live there. The builders say the design fits in well and they are using modern building methods.

Knottingley needs more homes and jobs. The project will have seven house types. Apartments and terraced houses are included. You will also find detached and semi-detached homes. They plan two entrances from Hazel Road, which will connect, making a loop road.

They asked the public about the project last year. They sent letters to 600 nearby homes. They only got one objection in response. The council thinks the plan uses land well and the houses will suit the area’s style.

Everyone can live safely there, they say. The houses have great space for healthy living. The builders must pay for nature improvements and must also help local transport. Plus, they should improve nearby paths. The plans follow local and national rules. Building there is okay in that location, the project is good for the environment too, and it will give future residents nice homes.
