Wirral Council sold a former Ministry of Defence site that sat empty for about twenty years. They plan to build houses there, with Northstone constructing 242 homes on Old Hall Road. Northstone belongs to the Peel Group company.

They call the plan a “significant milestone,” as contracts exist with the local council. Expect a mix of home sizes, specifically two, three, and four bedrooms. Affordable housing will make up 20% of the homes.

The first houses might be ready in spring 2026. The plan also includes public spaces and a play area. Wirral approved near 1,000 homes in Bromborough in February, indicating big changes are likely coming to the area.

Northstone wants to build quality homes for both present and future needs. Their goal is to create linked communities by planning to reuse the old site.

Northstone is looking for more sites elsewhere, particularly in the North West area. They aim to provide homes for sale or rent, and shared ownership is also a possibility. A date for council review remains pending.
