Ten homes will be built on the old Gwaun-cae-Gurwen primary school site. Council approved the housing development.

The location is a brownfield site, situated near the village center and about 0.35 hectares in size. The old school buildings have already been demolished.
All the houses will be semi-detached, with six having three bedrooms and four having four bedrooms. Driveways will also be created, and a new road will connect to Water Street.
The plan for building homes also encompasses associated works. The site previously held Gwaun-cae-Gurwen Primary School. The plan shows ten houses there, utilizing the existing access from Water Street. Six houses will face Water Street, while four will be situated behind them.
The site currently consists of hard surfaces and overgrown plants. It’s conveniently located near public spots such as stores, bus stops, and a rugby club. The Gwaun-cae-Gurwen clinic is also nearby. Neath Port Talbot Council gave their approval for the project in January 2025.
Construction may start soon.
