Surrey wants to cut speed limits, hoping to lower speeds on roads. This should reduce collision severity. The council expects fewer problems if speeds are slower.

Roads near Long Ditton Infant School might change, as could areas around Sugden Road shops. St Mary’s Church of England School area is included. It might all become a 20 mph zone.

Fleece Road toward Surbiton will stay the same, as will Rectory Lane. Manor Road will also keep its current speed limit. These roads should remain at 30 mph.

Sugden Road changes would start east of Scott Farm Close and extend to Ewell Road. Ewell Road will change south from Effingham Road to the Sugden and Fleece Roads junction. Orchard Close will change entirely.

Fleece Road changes cover the section from Ewell Road extending southwest of Windmill Lane, including the road outside houses 74-96. Ditton Hill Road will change north of Church Road, extending to Ewell and Fleece Roads.

Kings Road will change for its total length, and Highfield Close will undergo change across its full length too. The council published a map of the plan, where green marks roads possibly becoming 20 mph, and red shows roads staying at 30 mph.

The council approved Vision Zero in July 2024. This plan includes a flexible approach to 20 mph limits. Legally, they must consider public feedback and review comments before a final decision.
