Guess what? Nantwich Railway Station won an award! It is the Best Kept Station in Cheshire for 2024. Northern Railway gave out the awards. The ceremony was at Crewe Alexandra Football Club. They honored station staff and volunteers.

Nantwich Station won the big award! People liked its great garden and station art. It offers a nice welcome to the town, benefiting both travelers and local visitors.

The station recently got a cool makeover. TfW worked with various groups on this, including pupils and community rail partners. Local artist Cathy Williams and station volunteers were also involved. Passengers can now see art in the waiting areas, showcasing Nantwich’s unique charm.

Wrenbury won the ‘Art Project Award’. The art project was funded by the 3 Counties group. Artist Cathy Williams worked with kids on it, specifically Wrenbury Primary School pupils who created the art. They showed why Wrenbury is special to them.

The children used colored sugar paper and drew various lines. They captured their love for Wrenbury, and their art showcases the village’s true spirit.

Josie, the Community Rail Officer, said they won two awards. Both Wrenbury and Nantwich art projects were winners.

Josie said it was great to work with the pupils and the station team. The displays are bright and vibrant, showcasing the towns of Cheshire.

Judges visit stations yearly during spring and summer. They come from community groups to provide perspective, with Rotary Clubs and Women’s Institutes often participating.

Mark Barker, chair of Cheshire Best Kept Stations, said the awards celebrate the volunteers. Their work significantly brightens Cheshire stations.

Mark noted the excellent volunteer work and recognized the great staff at stations. The improvements span all of Cheshire.

Melanie Lawton leads Community Rail Strategy. She loves seeing volunteers get recognized, as Community Rail Partnerships also contribute. They improve stations in their free time, a lot.

TfW values these volunteers who dedicate their time to improving stations. TfW congratulated the winners and thanked all station volunteers who welcome everyone and connect communities to the trains.
