MP calls for review after driver gets a short sentence for fatal crash that killed Harrison Harvey in Hartlepool.

Doci, who is 27, appeared in court and admitted to several offenses. These included driving without insurance or a license, and entering the UK unlawfully. The court sentenced Doci to ten months in jail and a 12-month driving ban.
Many people think the sentence isn’t harsh enough. Jonathan Brash, a local MP, is among the critics and has asked for a review of the sentence, feeling the jail time is too short.
Brash wrote to Richard Hermer, the attorney general, requesting an urgent investigation into the case and mentioning the tragic death of Harvey. He pointed out the potential sentence length, stating that the crimes could carry a 54-month sentence in Crown Court, but Doci only received ten months.
Brash hopes authorities will review the sentence and wants Doci deported after his prison term. Harvey’s family knows about Brash’s statement. The family previously shared a tribute to Harrison, describing him as a beloved person. He was a graphic designer with a bright future.
The crash closed the A179 for hours. Police, paramedics, and an air ambulance went there, but sadly, Harrison died at the scene. His cousin, Michael Wanley, remembers him fondly and recalls that Harrison always smiled and trained for a run, planning to raise money for Alzheimer’s Society.
