Allan, Coursington & Draffen Towers to be demolished in a controlled blowdown as part of a major housing initiative.

North Lanarkshire Council is in charge and wants to minimize problems for people living nearby. They’ll bring all the towers down at once, although there have been some delays because of technical stuff.
Before they blow them up, they will make an exclusion zone. Roads and paths nearby will close briefly, but only when really necessary. They will let locals know way ahead of time.
The council is happy to finally be moving forward, stating that safety is their biggest concern. Expert engineers helped plan it all out. This makes sure the demolition goes safely.
The demolition should happen near the end of 2025, although the exact date isn’t set yet. Afterwards, they’ll clean up the area and then get the site ready for new construction.
The council plans to build a lot of new homes in North Lanarkshire. They want to build 6,000 new council homes over the next decade or so, an increase from their previous goal of 5,000 homes.
They want modern homes on the tower sites and plan to rebuild all high rises over twenty years. They will use new building, buying existing homes, and other plans. The money depends on funding and rent being steady.
They said many councils face housing problems. Homelessness is up because affordable housing is scarce. Also, private rents have increased significantly, and mortgages can be hard to pay. They want to help people and meet their needs.
