A mother died after slipping on a path at Lowestoft seafront in Suffolk. She became trapped amongst rocks and was submerged by tide.

The inquest officer, Paul Sermons, gave details. Saffron and her daughter walked their dog on a path close to the sea’s rocks. Saffron slipped twice because the sea was rising. She landed in the water the second time.
Saffron fell again after getting back up, and her head became trapped in the rocks. The rising tide partially covered her, and she was unable to free herself from her predicament.
Her daughter and others tried to help her, before emergency services arrived to assist. They did manage to free Saffron, but sadly, she died despite their efforts.
An initial autopsy did not reveal the cause of death. Senior coroner Nigel Parsley will start an inquest, but he will postpone it for more investigation.
A hearing is planned for June 6 to set a date for the full inquest. This hearing will examine the circumstances of her death.
