Marco Ebben, a Dutch drug kingpin, was killed in Mexico after previously faking his own death to evade capture.

The authorities confirmed he was shot dead. It happened near Mexico City, in Atizapan de Zaragoza. He was in a car park when it happened. He once faked his own death.
He wanted to avoid getting caught by the law. Officials confirmed his identity to a news agency. Europol called him one of Europe’s most wanted.
He smuggled drugs from Brazil to the Netherlands. A court sentenced him to prison in 2020. He got over seven years, but he evaded arrest then.
Last year, he spoke to a Dutch broadcaster. He denied involvement in some explosions. Europol said he smuggled cocaine with others. From 2014 to 2015, they moved a lot around.
He supposedly faked his death last October. This was in Culiacan, a dangerous cartel area. It was amid a big turf war there. People found no real proof of his death back then. Only a girlfriend said she saw his body.
