Police are patrolling Birmingham’s Gay Village. They want everyone to feel secure there. The patrols include volunteers, a “rainbow watch walk,” aiming to stop trouble in the area.

The Gay Village is near the Arcadian and Chinatown. Patrols specifically focus on the Gay Village. Last year saw several attacks in the area, including a stabbing, a brawl, and a robbery.

A pub landlord wanted more police. Officers want a friendly presence, so people can enjoy the area’s bars and feel safe doing that.

Police are working with others for safety. They patrolled with volunteers in a Rainbow Watch walk this week. This combats crime and bad behavior.

The patrol started near Hippodrome Square. They talked to people on Monday evening and addressed public nuisance problems. The team also helped a homeless person.

They reported dumped furniture too. Greet the team if you see them and share any concerns you have. They’ll report crime to officers.

StreetWatch works with wardens and security to make the whole area safer. Anyone over 18 can join StreetWatch. They need to volunteer just two hours monthly.
