Detectives search for a moped rider. Someone reportedly fired a gun in the city center. It happened Tuesday night on Balfour Street in Hanley. People reported two men; one man had a long gun.

Police taped off the road until the next afternoon, and an investigation started quickly. Police said they sent firearms officers, who arrived around 8:20 PM. Two cars and a building got damaged.

A man had injuries from broken glass and residents heard several shots. Forensics experts photographed the area early that morning and the incident shocked many people.

Police need information about a moped that drove erratically on Cromer Road, then went onto Leek Road toward Abbey Hulton. Police think the gunman rode the moped.

A police spokeswoman shared more details and they want information about the moped’s use. This relates to the firearm incident in Stoke-on-Trent that began on Balfour Street in Hanley.

Police believe the man used the moped to escape; he rode it quickly on those roads. The investigators examine CCTV footage and analyze forensics from the scene.

The injured man had cuts from shattered glass, but thankfully, his injuries weren’t serious. Police continue the investigation and are gathering all available evidence.
